MAHVASH MOSSAED
Mahvash Mossaed is an Iranian-American based in Southern California. Her poetry and paintings have continued to inspire people for over twenty years. Born in Tehran, Mahvash married in Canada and has lived both in Europe and Africa as she traveled with her husband on diplomatic tours for the UN.
Mahvash Mossaed is an internationally recognized artist and published poet, her latest and newly released book of paintings and poetry (My Painted Dreams) resulted in critics acclaim. Her work has been exhibited in China, Korea, Africa, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and extensively throughout the United States. She continues to seek new ways of giving voice to Iranian women.
Her 62-minute documentary Unveiling: I Paint a Woman's Life in My Culture, released in 2006, won her The Best Documentary award in the New York Independent Film Festival and The Best Director award in Los Angeles.
Mahvash's published work has been distributed successfully for many years throughout the U.S. and internationally. Her paintings have graced the cover of many periodicals and art books. Her latest exhibition was at the American Visionary Art Museum, Maryland. Mahvash's work is widely collected and is represented in the private collections of Bijan and Steven Spielberg.
